Welcome Home From the Hemphills

Jim and Kaye Hemphill said the economic impact their company Hempill Construction brings to Edmond is great

Home builders, Jim and Kaye Hemphill couldn’t be happier. Business is booming and their son Chad recently returned from the military.

Their business is called Hemphill Construction Company. Jim manages the building part hiring subcontractors and overseeing construction; and Kaye does the marketing advertising and showing of the homes. However, things have changed recently. There’s a new kid on the block.

Jim and Kaye’s son Chad recently returned from four years service in the United States military. After a fourteen month tour in Iraq, Chad served as an instructor for an elite pathfinder course at Fort Campbell in Kentucky. He was a member of the 101st airborne.

Chad grew up in the home building business just like his father. He is currently working as a superintendent but plans to take over the family business when Jim retires.

Despite some concerns the the housing market will soon undergo a downturn, Jim says that the home building business has continued to grow at a remarkable pace. He says that this is not merely a local phenomenon but that fellow builders from across the country including some down in Texas and out in California report similar trends.

The housing market is so strong in fact, that Jim said keeping up with demand was one of the biggest challenges his company faces.

There are some downsides to such a strong housing economy. When asked for advice for perspective home owners who want to build, Jim warns that they should do their homework and make sure to go with a reputable builder. He says that people with little building experience will try to get into home building in hopes of taking advantage of the booming housing market and making quick money.

Jim has built homes all over the state. Even though he has built homes in the Arbor Lakes IV addition in Norman, he prefers to build in Edmond. The City of Edmond is remarkable to work with. Hemphill Construction currently has homes in the Rose Freek, Creek Bend, Cardinal Ridge, and River Oaks additions in Edmond. The homes range in price from $270,000 to $900,000 with the bulk of the homes being in the $300,000-$400,000 price range. They take the greatest care in ensuring that every detail of the house is perfect. Jim is absolutely dedicated to customer satisfaction and is proud of the fact that most of his business comes from referrals.

Another reason Jim loves building in Edmond is the relationships he has built with the local business community. He has a fantastic relationship with Citizen’s Bank and enjoys working with local Edmond retailers.
