Winter is upon us and that means extra stress on our cars

Preventative maintenance is important at this time of the year. The Car Care Council estimates that 85% of all cars are deficient in some manner. Here is a checklist to help you prevent winter car problems.

  • Check your coolant (antifreeze); coolant should be flushed and refilled every two years in most vehicles.
  • Stop and go driving in Edmond is normally considered severe driving. If that is your normal driving pattern, change your oil every 3,000 miles.
  • Make sure all fluid levels are proper.
  • Check your battery and exhaust system.
  • Be certain your heater and defroster are working properly.
  • Keep your gas tank at least half full, decreasing the chances of moisture forming in the gas lines and possibly freezing.
  • Check tire tread depth and pressure.
  • Check to see that all lights work.
  • Replace wiper blades every six months. Check out the new “beam blades.”
  • Use special low temperature washer fluid.

Visit Kwik Kar of Edmond at 1201 N Santa Fe Ave for all your service needs and let us worry about the checklist. Our mission is to “Keep you off the shoulder and on the road.”
